SUSPENDED CATWALK ON STAIRCASES
Non-standard access elements are always a blind spot in regard of safety. For Roberto Zucco directed by Richard Brunel at the Comédie de Valence, a suspended catwalk is anchored on two staircases at each side of the stage, with no possibility to have any support on the ground in between.
Our work consisted in pre-designing and designing the elements, taking into consideration how the set would be assembled. The assemblies on the staircases are pivots so that we limit the risk of tipping over when loading the catwalk on those.
Finite element calculations were computed to make sure the parts were designed properly, and we determined the specifications for hanging the catwalk in the fly.
