CHAIN DRIVE FOR THEATER

Jun 2016 | Theater

How to move heavy pieces of sets during a show? For Phèdre(s) at the Théâtre de l’Odéon, directed by Krysztolf Warlikowski and Wajdi Mouawad, Małgorzata Szczęśniak imagined a 4-walls room translating sideways.

The 6 tons piece of set was powered by one ARMAZ HEAVY driving a chain integrated in the floor, moving the set at a speed of 0.60 m/s. The room was guided by two rails to provide a perfect alignment.
